I am so glad you stopped by! This morning I was thinking about when I was little and playing out all day in the neighborhood until I heard my daddy whistle. Does anyone remember those days? I learned a million games, how to ride my bike, how to skateboard, and how to do a handspring…Seriously, we learned it all in the neighborhood, and without UTube! One of my favorite games was Follow the Leader. Someone would jump up and holler “Follow Me” and 20 kids would fall in line one behind the other copying the leader’s every crazy move. We would do airplane wings, jump, skip, cartwheels, whatever the leader did we did, and we did it all while running. No one ever walks during Follow the Leader. Then after a respectable amount of time, there was this unspoken change of command. Another child would move to the front of the line and assume position, and we followed without skipping a beat. However, about the time leader four and five were attempting to take over the line, followers were beginning to dwindle. By the time leader six took up the challenge, the only person following him was his best friend. Everyone else was laying in the grass trying to catch their breath and come up with the next adventure! I always felt sorry for that last leader. They never really got their turn, and they were desperately trying to convince everyone to play just one more time. Exhaustion won out every time.
“My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they Follow Me.” John 10:27 There are so many things I LOVE in this verse! The first being, “MY sheep”. That little word “MY” melts my heart. Isaiah 43:1b “Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by name, you are Mine!” I love that! “MINE” I am His. Every day, every minute I am humbled that the God of all creation calls me His own. The more time I spend with Him in His word and in prayer with Him, the more I get to know Him. The more I get to know Him the deeper in love I fall with Him. The deeper I fall, the easier it is to “hear” His voice. And when I hear His voice, I follow.
Follow the Leader. Who do you follow? Think about it. What consumes your thoughts? Where do you spend the most of your time? Does it satisfy your soul? John 14:6 Jesus says I am the way the truth and the life. Only He can satisfy your empty heart. All you have to do is ask. Jesus is The leader, and He has said “Follow Me.” Are you just going to lay there in the grass or are you going to jump in His line? I say get moving!
