IMG_7358Thank you so much for stopping by! I hope you had an amazing Thanksgiving. I think this was my favorite one yet. I’m laughing right now because I say that every year. I really do! I love a holiday! I adore disconnecting from the real world and pouring time into my husband and children. My season of life has changed a bit this year with a married child, working children, and college students. With so many schedules, I am now that girl kind of on home base, you know? So we spent the week at the farm. I had enough food for anybody and everybody whenever they could come. I love that! I  want to be that home that the door is always open and there is always a light on no matter when you get there! There is always room and we will always just pull up another chair.IMG_8797I am rarely without a camera! I Love taking pictures, and my family is fabulous to never complain!

IMG_8862One of my favorite things was being in the kitchen with my girls! Cooking is way more fun with friends! We fixed traditional favorite recipes this year and we tried a few new ones. Seriously, the food was amazing! The weather was so fine that we were able to set up tables on the screened in porch and eat outside. It looked like something out of a magazine thanks to pinterst and Pottery Barn!

IMG_8831 if you follow my blog then you know it is no surprise that one of our favorite things about being at the farm is feeding the girls. They are so sweet. IF you follow me on periscope you’ve seen how sweet and gentle they are! Oh my goodness, I can’t get enough of them.
IMG_8888 I loved the slow pace of the week and no schedule. I loved being with my family and not having anywhere to be. Life is good.IMG_7406 I adore this picture. We love to have bonfires and cook so’mores. Obviously this is not a normal size bonfire. It was huge! My husband is the man when it comes to a bonfire. The girls were very curious of the fire and I loved watching them watch the fire. IMG_7417 IMG_9072

The whole week was such a sweet blessing for me and my husband. We loved being together and being able to hang out with all of our children. I truly cherish being present in the moment and soaking in every conversation and every little thing. I am so thankful for this season in my life.

December is here in all its sparkling lights and decorations. I woke up early this morning to meet with the Lord, and I’m ashamed to tell you that I could hardly focus on His word for my brain clicking a million miles an hour with all the little things I needed to do. So I wrote them down to clear my mind and got back to it. I actually felt a little short of breath, and I thought I must be stressed over my list. Those of you that know me well, know I don’t usually make lists or keep a daytimer, so the list was a little unnerving for me. Last week, I had the sweet privilege of teaching a biblestudy on Mary and Martha. God sweetly reminded me that like Martha I was distracted by all my preparations. Luke 10:40.  I love the next two verses….41) “But the Lord answered and said to her, “Martha, Martha, you are worried about so many things; 42) but only a few things are necessary, really only one, for Mary has chosen the good part which shall not be taken away from her.” If you’ll remember, Mary was sitting at Jesus’ feet listening intently to His word.

IMG_8787 Y’all this Christmas only one thing is necessary…..sitting at His feet listening intently to His word. Tune your heart to hear His voice not the voice in your head pushing and pressing and causing stress. Sit at His feet. Listen intently to His word. Leave your cell phone in the kitchen with all the other distractions and bask in His presence. Ask the Holy Spirit to take your thoughts captive and fill your heart with Him. Did you know that He Longs to be gracious to you? Did you know that He waits on high to have compassion on you? (Isaiah 30:18) AND…..”Do you not know? Have you not heard? The Everlasting God, the Lord, the Creator of the ends of the earth, Does not become weary or tired! His understanding is inscrutable. He gives strength to the weary, and to him who lacks might He increases power.” (Isaiah 40:28-29)   God is good all the time and He is enough. Y’all! He desires to spend time with me and you! The God of the Universe wants to be with us. He waits for us! We are His treasured possession and He delights in taking care of us. Wow! I am humbled and I can hardly wait to meet with Him in the morning! I hope to see you there!

Only one thing is necessary! This Christmas begin every day sitting at His feet listening intently to His word!!!

Merry Christmas! love love love Ruthie
